# SimDay > Free race-day kit for gyms: build heats by division and sled weight, judges tap splits on phones, live TV leaderboard, printable sheets and split cards. - SimDay is a free browser tool (beta, October 2026) for gyms and run clubs running in-house fitness-race simulation days ("HYROX-style" or "DEKA-style" sims); it is independent and not affiliated with HYROX, DEKA or Spartan. - It plans heats by division and lane capacity, keeps each sled load in the same lane between heats to minimise re-plating, and resolves athlete time windows and coach/athlete heat clashes. - Judges tap station splits on their phones via a room code and 4-digit PIN; taps are timestamped on the phone and queued offline, so Wi-Fi drops do not lose splits. - A full-screen TV board shows running heat clocks, station progress and division standings; a results page can be published per room. - Outputs: printable heat sheets, per-lane judge sheets, per-station rep sheets, results CSV export and 1080x1350 athlete split-card images. - Eight editable format templates (classic 8-station, zone-based, partner, team relay of four, run-club relay, half sim, indoor, 30-minute class); default loads are placeholders the gym sets. - Event plans stay in the browser; live-room data (athlete names, splits) is stored on Cloudflare and deleted 45 days after the room is created. - Supports kg/lb and km/mi. ## Tool - [SimDay](https://simday.pages.dev/): Free race-day kit for gyms: build heats by division and sled weight, judges tap splits on phones, live TV leaderboard, printable sheets and split cards. ## Formats - [Classic 8-station hybrid race](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/classic-8-station/): Eight runs, each followed by one station: ski, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, row, carry, lunges, wall balls. - [Zone-based fitness race](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/zone-race/): Ten zones, each preceded by a 500 m run — ski, lunges, box jump overs, ball sit-ups, row, carry, bike, dead ball, sled, burpees. - [Run-club relay](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/run-club-relay/): Teams of four run 1 km legs in turn round a measured loop; no stations, just handovers and a live board. - [Partner / relay format](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/partner-relay/): The classic eight-station course for pairs: partners run together and share each station’s work as they choose. - [Team relay of four](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/team-relay-4/): Four athletes split the classic course: each runs twice and does two stations, with handovers in a zone. - [Half simulation](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/half-sim/): Four runs and four stations — half the classic course, ideal for first-timers, teens and a mid-season benchmark. - [Indoor sim (no run route)](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/erg-only-indoor/): For gyms without a safe outdoor loop: runs are done on treadmills or swapped for bike erg legs, stations stay the same. - [30-minute class sim](https://simday.pages.dev/formats/mini-sim-class/): Four 400 m runs and four short stations that fit inside a normal class slot — a monthly benchmark for members. ## Stations - [Run](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/run/): The running legs between stations: a measured loop outside or indoors, counted in laps. - [Rowing erg](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/rowing-erg/): A distance row on an air rower; the monitor is the judge, the damper is the athlete’s choice. - [Ski erg](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/ski-erg/): A distance piece on a ski erg; standing double-pole pulls, judged off the monitor. - [Sled push](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/sled-push/): Push a loaded sled over a marked distance in lengths; loads change by division, so plan heats around them. - [Sled pull](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/sled-pull/): Pull a loaded sled hand over hand with a rope from a fixed box; the athlete stays behind the line. - [Burpee broad jumps](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/burpee-broad-jumps/): A burpee then a two-footed jump forward, repeated over a marked distance. - [Farmers carry](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/farmers-carry/): Carry two kettlebells or handles over a marked distance; set the load per hand by division. - [Sandbag lunges](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/sandbag-lunges/): Walking lunges with a sandbag on the shoulders, back knee touching the floor on every rep. - [Wall balls](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/wall-balls/): Squat and throw a medicine ball to a target; every rep must hit the target from a full squat. - [Air bike](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/air-bike/): A calorie or distance target on a fan bike; quick to judge, but monitors differ between models. - [Box jump overs](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/box-jump-overs/): Jump or step over a box, clearing it with both feet; height set by division. - [Med-ball sit-ups](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/ball-sit-ups/): Sit-ups holding a medicine ball, touching it to the floor behind the head and to the toes or a target in front. - [Dead ball over shoulder](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/dead-ball-over-shoulder/): Lift a non-bouncing ball from the floor and pass it over a shoulder; a strength station that tires the grip. - [Kettlebell swings](https://simday.pages.dev/stations/kettlebell-swings/): Two-handed swings to a set height; quick to scale and easy to fit into a mini sim. ## Guides - [How to run a HYROX-style simulation at your gym](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/run-a-fitness-race-simulation/): A HYROX-style simulation is a timed run-and-station race you host in your own gym: the official race format is a 1 km run followed by one workout station, repeated eight times. To run one well you need a fixed format, a heat schedule with regular start intervals, one judge per lane, a clock everyone trusts and a plan for first aid. Most of the work happens before the day, not on it. - [Heat planning for a hybrid fitness race](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/heat-planning-hybrid-race/): Divide your athletes by your lanes to get the number of heats, then multiply the heats minus one by your start interval to find the last start time. For 64 athletes in 4 lanes at an 8-minute interval that is 16 heats, with the last heat starting 120 minutes after the first. Group heats by sled load so the weights change only a couple of times, and leave one empty slot at each change. - [Judging a fitness race: no-reps and splits](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/judging-a-fitness-race/): Give every working lane one judge who follows that athlete, counts reps out loud, calls no-reps with a one-word reason and taps each station split on their phone. A head judge who is not tied to a lane settles disputes. Before the first heat, every judge's phone needs automatic date and time switched on, because splits are stamped on the judge's phone and the heat start on the organiser's. For comparison, the official race's current rulebook uses a formal warning and then 15-second time penalties at many stations; in a gym sim, an immediate re-do is usually fairer. - [Fitness race station standards and no-reps](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/fitness-race-station-standards/): Every station in a fitness race needs one written standard, a short list of no-reps and a load you set yourself for each division. This guide covers 14 common stations, from the run and ergs to sleds, wall balls and kettlebell swings. Loads in SimDay are placeholders: weigh your own kit, and check the current official rulebook only if you want to mirror a specific race. - [Pricing an in-gym race event: break-even](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/pricing-an-in-gym-race-event/): Add up your fixed costs (equipment hire, first-aid cover, insurance, judge thank-yous, printing) and your per-athlete costs (medal, T-shirt, ticket fee), then divide the fixed costs by what each ticket leaves after per-athlete costs. In the worked example, £470 of fixed costs and a 60/40 member mix at £30 and £40 break even at 27 athletes, out of a capacity of 76. - [Run club relay format: teams, legs, timing](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/run-club-relay-format/): Use teams of four, legs that the slowest runner can finish in under about 12 minutes, and one marked handover box where each incoming runner tags the next. Time every handover as a split and each leg time falls out of the difference. Ten teams of four on a 1 km (0.62 mi) run plus one station per leg, in two waves of five, fits into about three hours from arrival to awards. - [Simulation day equipment checklist](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/simulation-day-equipment-checklist/): Count your lanes, then list one full set of kit per lane per station plus one spare of anything that can break or go missing. Measure the run loop with a measuring wheel (1 km is 0.621 mi), give every judge a charged phone and a printed sheet, put the leaderboard on a TV over HDMI with a phone hotspot as Wi-Fi fallback, and include the public in your first-aid needs assessment, as HSE strongly recommends. - [Marketing a sim event: a six-week plan](https://simday.pages.dev/guides/marketing-a-sim-event/): Give yourself six weeks: open entries to members first, open to non-members a week later, recruit through local run clubs, and publish start times a week out. On the day the TV leaderboard and athlete split cards are your content, as long as athletes were told upfront and could opt out. The real return comes in the 48 hours afterwards, when you follow up every non-member with a specific offer. ## Optional - [Full text of all guides](https://simday.pages.dev/llms-full.txt): every guide as plain Markdown
